Pendant un bref instant a la fin du deuxième millénaire, avant qu'une majorité ne possède un téléphone portable, la montre occupait une place comparable,
en ce que son véritable objet était pour les individus de ne pas se perdre dans leur propre continuum espace-temps. Sorte de rite de passage, j'avais reçu
ma première et unique montre de mon oncle, c’était une Casio en plastique noir. Pendant environ une semaine, je ne pouvais pas m’empêcher de mettre
l'alarme toute les minutes et consulter le passage du temps, une période d'essai au terme de laquelle j'avais conclu que le matériel était légitime,
quoi qu’insatisfaisant : l'excitation initiale avait laissé place a une certaine irritation lorsque j'avais acquis que la montre ne faisait rien de plus que donner l'heure,
sans aucun pouvoir de contrôle sur le passage du temps. Cette déception, combinée a une propension au bordélisme, me permettait d’égarer ou oublier
fréquemment l'objet, qui n’atteint jamais pour moi l'envergure psychique de la montre anale de Bruce Willis dans Pulp fiction. Logiquement, le bracelet avait cassé
après quelques années et faute de gousset je me retrouvais avec une espèce de breloque qui tanguais librement dans ma poche, jusqu’à sa disparition mystérieuse
et définitive.
Je remplaçais la montre disparue par un lecteur cd portable et mes journées furent désormais composées de flottements post-temporels ponctués d'escales ou divers
agents me ramenaient a l'heure: une église, la radio, certains individus, etc. Le CD était une sorte de mètre étalon contre lequel mesurer diverses activités dont
la durée importait : il fallait par exemple un demi cd de High rise – Special live disallow pour aller acheter une bouteille de vieux papes au petit Casino et revenir;
ou l’intégralité d'un Ethiopiques volume 4 pour le trajet en bus entre le campus et chez moi. Un Faust – seventy one minutes of... correspondait a la longueur
du Cours de la Libération a pied. Je mesurais la distance entre les villes par l'un, l'autre, ou les deux cd du live77 des Rallizes Dénudés ou par le nombre d’écoutes
successives de the elements de Joe Henderson. Super AE des Boredoms etait un peu long (patronalement) pour ma pause déjeuner a l'usine,
alors que Davis Redford Triad- The mystical path of the number 86 était un peu trop court (syndicalement). La bande originale de Lucifer rising était parfaitement
adaptée a la course d'un sombre coït de fin de soirée, de même que 2x45 de Cabaret Voltaire couvrait 2684 secondes d'une double ration de préliminaires moites.
Je me réveillais chaque matin après avoir écouté exactement sept fois Digilogue de zoviet*france. L'exactitude temporelle du matériel était pourtant mise a l’épreuve
et distordue par son contenu: Keith hudson - pick a dub semblait plus étiré que ses 34 minutes officielles, alors que Ground zero revolutionary pekinese opera
me paraissait toujours plus court que les 49 min indiquées a l’écran LCD. Les 68 minutes de Tom Recchion - chaotica n’étaient clairement pas du meme type que
les 68 de murmur - murmer, étant par contre parfois, selon les conditions, d'une durée égale aux 51 minutes d'Oval 94 diskont ou aux 40 minutes du Radiant,
discharged, crossed-off de Bastard; en théorie, Sam Moore – moooohieee! -36 min- n’était que la moitié du ambiant otaku de Tetsu inoue -72 min- mais la nuit tombait
sensiblement plus vite avec ce dernier. Je découvrais avec terreur et joie les différentes transformations de la musique qu'offrait nonchalamment le support digital:
- la permutation: je gravais mes neuf versions préférées du funhouse des Stooges a partir des 508 minutes du complete funhouse sessions, et ne vécu jamais « Death before
the night of sampling virus » d'Otomo Yoshihide autrement qu'a travers une lecture aléatoire de ses 77 pistes
- Le gigantisme: les 147 minutes de Negativland The Willsaphone stupid show
- l'excroissance: l'apparition de “No tomorrow” sur Deuce avenue d'Alan Vega
- la réunification: la possibilité d’écouter les 38 minutes de Karma de Pharoah Sanders ou E2-E4 de Manuel Göttsching sans la coupure des deux faces
- la conflagration: 74 minutes de Chrome avec Half-machine lips move accolé a Alien soundtracks ou Guitar grimoire et Open the seven gates de Wilburn Burchette
sur un seul cd. Un incident scella le destin du lecteur cd: après la septième écoute répétée de « strange warmings of Laddio bolocko », j'en perdis le contrôle,
bloqué entre 4:21 et 4:23 en une vertigineuse spirale infinie d'auto-destruction: je tombais a cet instant précis éperdument amoureux de l'infini. Tout s’accéléra,
je branchais la machine crépitante sur une prise au mur de ma chambre, fermais la porte a clé, que je glissais dans ma boite aux lettres en ouvrant la porte de l'immeuble,
avant de sauter d'un bond dans le vortex multicolore qui remplaçait maintenant la rue, la ville, et les heures d'ouverture du petit Casino.
Le nouveau cd de France s'appelle “A la recherche de la flexitude du temps”. Il dure 4711 secondes.

Here is a surprising item in our regular distro! Coming from the same bootleg collection as the Rallizes above (!), we had to take a few tapes and
give them a shot. Turns out, this is some very serious shit! Too Short has been a pioneer in west coast rap music in the early 80's and started by
selling his first tapes at the back of his car through the streets of Oakland. The Freaky Tales has been a major theme in his work, making many
versions throughout his ongoing carreer. The two tracks here are more than 10 minutes each, thus leaving him enough time to describe sexual
adventures with 70 different women... For those of you who already know the artist, this tape stands as a must have, The Freaky Tales Part I
& II finally re-united on a pumped up feeric tape with awesome sound quality!!

As we know, Les Rallizes Dénudés is way more than a rock band, it's a manifesto to rock and music in general.
One aspect that stands out here is the question of matter. A romantic black matter in motion. This particular recording is of very low fidelity sound,
nevertheless of genius quality. The amplifier buzz and hiss seem to breath throughout the whole recorded set, oozing in the most fantomatic way.
The rythmic section, drowned in delay, is so far behind the lead guitar and voice it actually melts in this ongoing buzz, or rather rises from the hiss.
Needless to say, the tape format, with all that it stands for as matter itself, renders this aspect in the most relevant way, thus becoming the perfect
format to present this very precious document. In other words, this tape will fuck you up.
